I did some research myself, and this is what I found out, according to some Veteran Marines, But to him, ex and former just means he is no longer in the Marine Corps. He said, sometimes, Marines only call those who have been dishonorably discharged as ex-Marine. ![]() Although, "there is no such a thing as former or ex marine, once a Marine, always a Marine." He understands most civilians and media will refer Veteran Marines as former or ex Marine. However, my brother and I have never discussed the derogatory terms for Marines. I am not 100% sure what is his MOS because it changed couple of times. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in year 2001. (four years active duty, last two years reserve) He is a proud (former/ex/Veteran) Force Recon Marine. Background, my brother served in the United States Marine Corps for a total six years.
